Last January I was sworn in for my first term in Congress. So, what have we accomplished since then? Let’s take 2(ish) minutes to review.

It’s embarrassing that there is any hesitation on this. How can we have different consequences for different kinds of bigotry or incitement? This should be treated equally and consistently. Incite against a member and you’re stripped. End of story. She refuses to even apologize.
AOC told me she’s disappointed in D leaders for not punishing Boebert "I think this should be pretty simple: that we should have the same standards for everybody. The less consistently we treat these issues, the more it encourages people to try to see what they can get away with”

It’s a pretty simple question: does the House accept violent Islamophobia or not? We should feel ashamed every time @IlhanMN or anyone is forced to defend themselves against threats in their workplace alone bc the institutions they serve in won’t protect them. It’s messed up.

This is the same person who live tweeted the Speaker’s location on Jan 6th knowing that violent white supremacists were searching for her. She has demonstrated a pattern of creating conditions for the people around her to get hurt, without remorse. And she could do so again.

This is a blatant lie. Boebert never apologized to @IlhanMN privately or publicly and explicitly refused to do so on the phone, instead calling Rep. Omar "anti-American." By failing to condemn, McCarthy is condoning it.
House Leader Kevin McCarthy on not condemning Rep. Lauren Boebert’s Islamophobic comments directed at Rep. Ilhan Omar: “She apologized publicly. She apologized personally …" (Boebert has not apologized to Omar publicly and, per Omar, has not privately either.)

STUDENT DEBT: Rep. @AOC calls for cancelling student loan debt, and slams the "false narratives that student loan debt is for the privileged. What a ridiculous assertion. Do we really think that a billionaire's child is taking student loans? Come on!"

Ah yes, the right wing: forcing people to give birth against their will while advancing policies that made the US have the highest maternal mortality in the developed world. Then for after birth, they work to stop paid leave policy👍🏽 No wonder they need voter suppression to win

According to this study from Stanford and the University of California—Berkeley, more than 80% of American Muslims feel that Islamophobia is not taken seriously by civil society, corporate and political leadership. Congress’s silence and inaction on Anti-Muslim hate is telling.

~28 million people in the US are uninsured. Subsidizing insurance companies doesn’t help them, & making people hassle w/ insurance for a test cuts against the goal of frequent testing. UK offers COVID tests free & in other countries tests are ~$5 or less. We can do better. #M4A
Breaking News: President Biden is expected to unveil a winter Covid plan today that includes insurance reimbursement for at-home tests and new travel protocols. nyti.ms/3xOmoSl

Reps @RepDaveJoyce and @AOC just dropped a new #cannabis bill that will help states and local governments pay for expungements of non-violent cannabis-related records. The HOPE Act authorizes the DOJ to award grants to any jurisdiction that needs $$ to process expungements.

Reminder that Brett Kavanaugh *still* remains credibly accused of sexual assault on multiple accounts w/ corroborated details & this year the FBI admitted it never fully investigated. Yet the court is letting him decide on whether to legalize forced birth in the US. No recusal.

Out of 9 justices, 3 were appointed by a man who tried to overthrow the US government (& elected via minority). Those 3 will decide whether the US will legalize forcing people to give birth against their will. Legitimacy requires consent of the governed. They are dismantling it

It's wild that a third of the Supreme Court was appointed by a man who attempted to overthrow the United States government, and we just continue to let those judges hand down decisions.

People truly don’t understand the scale, intensity, & volume of threats targeting @IlhanMN. Kevin McCarthy is so desperate to be speaker that he is working with his Ku Klux Klan caucus to look aside & allow violent targeting of woc members of Congress. This cannot be ignored.
Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) plays a horrific death threat she received following Rep. Lauren Boebert’s (R-CO) recent Islamophobic attacks on her. Warning: It's incredibly graphic.

While people toss out clichés like “we condemn all forms of racism & bigotry,” the fact is Islamophobia is far too often tolerated and ignored. Bigotry is not made unacceptable by what one says about it, it’s made acceptable based on whether there are consequences for it or not.

It’s not just about nasty phone calls and e-mails. GOP are given freedom to incite without consequence. They don’t have to pay for the security required from their acts- we do. They make money off it. &They are targeting those least likely to be institutionally protected first.

Remember, if local authorities in Georgia had their way, no one would have ever been charged for the murder of Ahmaud Arbery. It took weeks of protest before charges were even brought in the case, 74 days after Arbery was shot and killed in February 2020.
