The cost of childcare – for children at school as well as in their early years – is a cost of living issue.   In Britain, and around the world, families are facing rising costs and governments need to act.   A thread: 🧵   politicshome.com/thehouse/ar…

Food prices are rocketing, taxes are rising and energy costs are through the roof. Labour has a costed plan to tackle the cost of living crisis. The Conservatives are too distracted by partygate to lift a finger to help.
'The cost of living crisis isn't abstract, it's what's waking people up in the middle of the night' says Anneliese Dodds - adding that costs are rising and it's "a huge problem" for millions of people. trib.al/Y64PVGd 📺 Sky 501 and Youtube

Labour has a plan to tackle the cost of living crisis and reduce energy bills for millions. It’s time for the Conservatives to stop dithering, start standing up for the people of Britain, and act. #PMQs

The Conservatives simply can’t help themselves. After months of headlines about a party mired in sleaze, they’re still selling off prizes and perks to Tory donors instead of coming up with a plan to tackle the cost of living crisis. theguardian.com/politics/202…

On #IDAHOBIT2022, Labour stands against homophobia, transphobia and biphobia. It's unacceptable that violence against LGBT+ people has doubled in the last five years. Labour will bring in tougher sentences for those who commit anti-LGBT+ hate crimes. independent.co.uk/news/uk/po…

The Bank of England is sounding the alarm, but the Government isn't listening. Today Conservative MPs can make their voices heard by voting for a windfall tax on oil and gas profits to cut energy bills. It's time for the Conservatives to do the right thing and vote with Labour.

Thank you for sharing your story Jake. In this 50th year of Pride, everyone should be free to be themselves.

It’s taken months, but we finally know what the government thinks people should do to cope with the cost of living crisis: 1. Work more hours 2. Get a better paid job. The Conservatives are out of touch.

We have an opportunity to send a message to Boris Johnson over the cost of living and to elect a strong champion who will deliver change for Wakefield. Our campaign truly begins today and I will do everything that I can to earn every vote and deliver for the people of Wakefield.

It’s a real honour and privilege to have been selected as Labour’s Parliamentary candidate for #Gedling. Thank you to Gedling Labour members for putting their trust in me. Let’s win back Gedling and begin changing Britain for the better again.🌹

Great to meet with Clare Willetts, founder of @notonlypinkblue, and Sally Dear from @DuckyZebra this week. Their work shows how breaking with sexist stereotypes isn’t just the right thing to do - it makes good business sense too. All power to their elbows!

The attacks on mourners at the funeral of the journalist, Shireen Abu Aqla, have shocked the world. The Labour Party unequivocally condemns the violence by Israeli forces. Out thoughts are with Shireen’s family and all those who mourn her death.

Great to be out on the #LabourDoorstep in #Wakefield this week with @ChiOnwurahMP and @CatherineWestMP. Lots of people saying they won’t be taking a chance on the Conservatives again - and so many are angry with the government’s lack of action on the cost of living.

I'll save you the time of opening the link. The Government has confirmed it won't introduce mandatory ethnicity pay gap reporting despite recognising the need for it four years ago. Labour would bring it in and pass a Race Equality Act to tackle structural barriers at source.
We have published the Government's response to our report: Ethnicity Pay Gap Reporting. Read it here: bit.ly/3N8Bskk

The Conservatives say one thing in public but show their true colours when they think no one is watching. The message couldn't be clearer: there's one rule for Boris Johnson and another rule for everyone else.

There was nothing in the Queen’s Speech for working women. ❌ No new pregnancy or maternity redundancy protections ❌ No fast-track measures on sexual harassment ❌ No right to flexible working For this Conservative Government, women are always an afterthought.
Boris Johnson’s Government promised us an employment bill to protect women at work. Where is it? My @guardian column today 👇🏻 theguardian.com/commentisfre…
