What I do produce is a bar chart which takes the raw ICU counts in the lower pie chart and divides them by the population in each vaccine category (upper pie chart). Then I show the risk per million people in the bars.

If someone asks how I got the population numbers for each vaccine category, I literally look at the number who have that number of doses now and have met the PHO criteria for vaccine immunity build (eg 14 days after 2nd dose) plus I adjust for the estimated time of transmission.

I don't expect the average person to understand all this population adjustment, just that a lot of thought and work went into it to be able to create the best public estimates possible.

Thank you! There are so many anti vaxxers that use those charts, with their out of context numbers, to claim that the vaccinated are more likely to be hospitalized than unvaccinated. @ONTHealth should seriously consider replacing them. It鈥檚 fuelling misinformation online.
