This paper was a remarkable example of truly global collaboration. I put a fully open call for collaborators on social media 20 months ago and got over 250 collaborators from around the globe!
Here are the incredible people who executed this challenging project!
Thanks you all!
This pattern of results was found not only at the individual level (using self report measures) but also in terms of national levels of identity and mobility (using google mobility from 42 countries).
Indeed, the pattern was stronger when we examined actual mobility (r = .4).
We found a clear positive relationship between national identification & limiting physical contact, improving hygiene, and supporting public health policies around the globe.
But there were only weak or null effects of national narcissism + political ideology on these measures.
Our new paper in press @NatureComms finds that national identity predicts public health support during the #COVID19 pandemic
We replicated the pattern using public health attitudes in 67 countries (N = 49,968) and google mobility data in 42 countries psyarxiv.com/ydt95
We have a research assistant job up for grabs on @coordinate_eu and @EuroCohort - part time or full time until next Sep! If you have a masters degree and want to work on child wellbeing and large scale research projects please apply!
From today and until Friday at the @ChiefH2020 Final Conference.
It has been a privilege to share this ambitious research with such great people and brilliant colleagues from around the world. I want more! What’s next folks??!
Of interest to colleagues who use ARIS scale (Activism and Radicalism Intentions Scale):
A new statistical technique isolates purified activism from purified radicalism, allowing for more nuanced analysis of their relationships with other variables.
