“What a messed up world we live in,” he said mournfully to his wife. And it was the truth. “What a beautiful world we live in!”, he said ecstatically to his kids. And it was the truth.

This song, maybe more than any other, helped get me through year 42 in one piece. Including a harrowing descent into mental darkness, when this was a rare point of light. Thank you, @Hammockmusic. Your songs have been spinning through me for 17 years. hammock.bandcamp.com/track/s…

What a sad, vital 🧵. This is the belief in male “headship” I grew up with. I’m so glad that after high school, I saw through the haze. Unimaginable how many women labor and suffer in silence under the tyranny of this patriarchal delusion. Thank you for sharing, @DefendTheSheep.
In 2012, my then-husband said he had some strong words to tell me that would probably affect our marriage. This was a true statement. He told me that I alone was responsible for the break-up of our family because I was not submitting to his "headship."

This is absolutely spot on.
People who peddle a doctrine of total depravity will convince you to see it everywhere, except in their own theology and motivations.

I was there in 2008 for the (crazy) Palio horse race! Slept on the ground the night before to be sure I had a spot among the teeming masses in the middle. (And because I was, you know, too cheap to pay for a room.)

He may or may not have won (NO SPOILERS here), but I just have to say that Giuseppe from #GreatBritishBakeOff should be: ~ Immediately given his own spin-off show ~ Nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize ~ Our new template for non-toxic masculinity #Giuseppe #ForPresident #2024

Mental health = physical health. So sorry to hear this, Gunjan. 😔
Due to OCD/anxiety I've had nausea/vomiting, breathing problems, heaviness in chest, and other fun things. So, the next time I hear someone demarcate mental health from physical health...well, I'm not going to do much since I'm already such a wreck. But I can judge them silently.

This @DesiringGod column is an insult to: 1. the Christian virtue of empathy 2. the late, great C.S. Lewis 3. um, God Simply bonkers how drunk on Trumpism the church I grew up in has become. #exvangelical #Trumpism #virtuebecomesvice

How, I ask? How does empathy get turned into a vice? How is that even possible?

I need your advice, #FilmTwitter. Which of these films (that my so-called cinephile self has somehow never seen) should I make time for? What’s the #1 priority?
12% Lincoln
0% The Piano
12% A Star Is Born
75% Mad Max: Fury Road

Would either of my favorite movie podcasters, @Filmspotting or @LarsenOnFilm, care to weigh in?

This tweet somehow feels like a perfect indictment of American capitalism.
Why are there never Black Friday sales on stuff like plywood? 🤔

All-around good guy Ed Helms (from The Daily Show and The Office, obviously) is letting several Native Americans have his Twitter account for one week and tweet whatever they want. And *that*, my friends, is how you honor Thanksgiving. (Follow @EdHelms!)

A question for @PhilipJamieson about your (riveting) new solo album: Of the 8 artists you covered, which of them would you be *most* honored if they found out you did a rendition of their song? philipjamieson.bandcamp.com/…

Is it possible that #GetBack was released today in order to give politically diverse families something unifying to watch after their tense Thanksgiving dinner? Since pretty much nobody dislikes The Beatles? Because if so… bravo, Peter Jackson. 👏🏼 #BeatlesGetBack #Thanksgiving

THE MACHINIST is the most meticulously designed, palpably ominous, and superbly Hitchcockian film ever (that Hitchcock didn’t film). Christian Bale and Brad Anderson deserved Oscars. 10/10. #FilmTwitter

Jeremy... but free of his old pre/misconceptions! retweeted
When all is said and done, I believe historians will agree man's downfall was assured the moment we started putting mini-movie trailers before the actual movie trailer.
