"The department refuses to reveal the identity of case officers, let alone their cases, allegedly for security reasons. This is nonsense...No, the real reason for their secrecy is surely only to conceal those responsible for this ineptitude." thestar.com/opinion/contribu…

Oh Kyle. I hope you retire here. And I don't just mean play your last game in Toronto. I hope that you come back here to live after you retire as a player. To coach. To run for mayor. Or to teach at a university with your PhD.

Great news for millions of Ukrainians. Commendable. Required. However, it also exposes the racism within @ircc & the #Trudeau gov. No such policy for millions of Afghanis. Iraqis. Syrians. South Sudanese. Rohingya. Basically, Brown & Black ppl. Do their lives have less value?
In response to the situation in Ukraine, we are taking steps to support Ukrainians and make it easier and faster for Canadian citizens, Canadian permanent residents and their immediate family members to return to Canada. THREAD⬇️

It would be helpful to lift the visa requirement for Ukranians and let them travel to Canada on Electronic Travel Authorizations. This would get rid of the need for Ukranians to send their passports to a closed embassy in order to have a paper visa taped to it.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says his government will be prioritizing immigration for Ukrainians wanting to come to Canada. ctvnews.ca/video?clipId=2389…

This woman politely asks a man banging a pot in Ottawa to stop making noise in front of the church. He refuses and alludes to her getting hurt if she continues to put up her hands asking him to stop. This isn’t just an occupation. It is violence & tyranny.

Most frustrating aspect is biometrics are required without any indication that visa will be approved. Visa should be approved in principle before requiring biometrics. Biometrics are invasive (added into the costs of trip to Turkey) ⁦@CitImmCanadathestar.com/news/canada/2022…

Image of webpage linking different application & correspondence systems created by @CitImmCanada. 23 systems & 2 purely forms. Some have different interfaces. Some overlap. Some are only for counsel. Some only for non-counsel. Explanations added on right #lawtwitter @SeanFraserMP

Navigating these systems is a frustrating, inefficient waste of time and resources. Why are there so many systems for one department? Why do they have different interfaces? How much $$$ has been spent on these systems? And most importantly - why do so many of them suck?

So the problem with this tracker is that it appears to provide minimal information. Clients already know if they have had a medical exam or submitted fees. The issue is all the time that applications spend in the abyss waiting for an officer to start reviewing an application.
Today we announced a new digital case status tracker that will make it easier for some family class permanent residence applicants, sponsors, and their representatives to check their application status online: canada.ca/en/immigration-ref…

Not to mention the time it takes officers to complete reviewing an app.
