COVID-19 vaccine appointments open the week of May 16. PLEASE NOTE: a clinic will not be held on Thursday, May 19.
Residents can book a COVID-19 vaccine appointment using the provincial vaccine booking system online covid-19.ontario.ca/book-vac… or over the phone (1-833-943-3900).
The COVID-19 Risk Index remains at moderate for the second week in a row. Residents are encouraged to use personal prevention measures listed below and check back next week for updates. For more information, visit peterboroughpublichealth.ca/…
1/3 Use bottled water activities that involve direct consumption of water. When the power is restored, check that filters and treatment devices are working properly and flush your plumbing system to remove any untreated water.
2/3 You can flush your plumbing system by running the water for several minutes through all plumbing fixtures. Collect a water sample as soon as power has been restored. Can have water test analyzed at PPH.
3/3 Limit the amount of wastewater that you are generating if you are on a septic system to prevent tank from banking up into the house or discharging into the ground. If breakout occurs, contact sewage hauler to pump tank immediately.
1/2 Residents are encouraging to routinely check that smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors and other safety devices in their homes have working batteries.
Residents should avoid using cooking equipment that emit carbon monoxide inside their homes.
2/2 Examples include camp stoves, charcoal grills, and gas stoves.
In case of an emergency, generators should be used outside only and should be placed away from windows and fresh air intakes.
1/2 In a power outage, be mindful of how long your appliances have been without power. Throw out any food items that appear to be discolored or do not smell normal. Hazardous foods such as dairy or meat products should be discarded to prevent food borne illness.
(1/4) Monkeypox is a disease that is usually found in animals, but it can also be spread to humans. People with #monkeypox can experience symptoms like:
-fever
-headache
-muscle pain
-exhaustion
-swollen lymph nodes
These symptoms are followed by a rash.
