This is the @NYCSchools "Homecoming" family-facing document about Covid mitigations. Highlighted in green: Pic taken on 11/18/21. Highlighted in yellow: Pic taken on 11/29/21. Notice how long it took them to remove that lie. And how they did it without informing families. (1/)

The footer at the bottom—with a date indicating that the document hasn't been changed since September—is infuriating, too. That footer date has one purpose: to tell readers when it was updated. There are still lies on this page, even after the quiet edit job. (2/3)

Families assume the DOE is giving them the truth. What happens when the truth is fluid and can change at any given moment? What are families supposed to rely on when policy changes are made surreptitiously, with past promises of safety literally written out of the plan? (3/3)

They really tried to keep the HEPA lie going! And remember this grossly incorrect description of how purifiers work and the ridiculous lie about being “better than HEPA”? 🙂 Thanks @ChalkbeatNY & @Gothamist for getting the truth about this out.
This is completely misleading. Our machines kill smaller particles better. We are providing MORE protection than a HEPA filter. Info here: intellipure.com/common-misco…

“But the Intellipure website said they’re better than HEPA, they’re very quiet, and they make great lattes, so it MUST be true. The internet would never lie!”

The moment someone from DOE said, “But they’re better than HEPA filters, so they *are* HEPA filters” was the moment I sent in our letter of intent to homeschool. I know I shouldn’t have been, but I was actually stunned they could say something so astoundingly stupid.

The purchase of nonHEPA air purifiers is also when I decided we aren't coming back to NYC DOE. I attended public schools for every single minute of elementary/middle/high school as well as undergrad. I never in a million years expected I would have to switch my child to private.

Replying to @eapelosi
@TishJames : @NYCMayor @NYCSchools REPEATEDLY LIED to parents, claimed @CDCgov @CDCDirector safety protocols while spending $60M on non-HEPA air purifiers leading to 📈⬆️ cases in overcrowded schools. Who profited from 1-bid contract??

Transparency is not their strong point. @NYCMayor @GovKathyHochul @DOEChancellor keep boasting about the low numbers on the DOE COVID MAP, but notice they don’t tell us the daily Sample Size in relationship to that number? 271 positive cases yesterday. How many tested? 500, 5000?
