It seems like it should be easier for people to understand that overapplying the "disinformation" label to stuff that's standard-issue partisan spin makes it less credible when applied to the truly dangerous stuff, like conspiracy theories about vaccines or election fraud.

You can frame it however you want, but this effort was always going to be a lightning rod even if they hadn't picked a cringe resistance influencer (well-credentialed as she may be) as the face of it. But it's the latter that lent escape velocity. washingtonpost.com/technolog…

GOP Rep. Dan Crenshaw reacts tonight to Tucker Carlson attacking him as "eyepatch McCain." "He's very sensitive -- sensitive when you don't have arguments," Crenshaw told me. "When you don't have arguments, you resort to petty name-calling, which is all he's really capable of.”

How do you avoid amplifying the killer's white supremacy message and also meet your duty to alert the public to what is happening in their society? It's a hard problem. And not new. Just ignore them is not an answer. Neither is journalism as usual. Listen to Ben struggle with it.
Went on @maddow last night to talk about white nationalist hate on the internet, how voices like Tucker are sanitizing and mainstreaming it, and how I don’t know how to stop it anymore.

@ZekeJMiller: Do you view your primary role here as speaking for the President and promoting his interests or are you committing to providing an unvarnished truth to the American people…? @PressSec: I actually think that's hand in hand. I don't think there is any separation...
