While this is many years overdue, it's still a great moment for this client and his advocate (and there have been many) should be celebrated for never giving up!
When our client and friend was detained in 2013, ABF couldn’t believe he had been jailed and tortured at the age of 5.
Only weeks later, they started to send children to Nauru.
The rest is history.

I analyze a global dataset that looks at whether refugees were deported, detained, encamped, and shut out of the formal labor market. I find that deportation, detention, and encampment do not decrease asylum applications or refugee arrivals, and may actually increase them.
