After eight infants died, 3.3 million pillows were recalled. Guns are the leading cause of death among American children, but for 40 years, a special exemption from regulation by the CPSC has prevented the government from overseeing firearms like every other consumer product. 🤷‍♀️

In 2005, the gun lobby took this special exemption further by passing PLCAA to provide broad immunity from all civil lawsuits for manufacturers and dealers. With immunity from the law, gun makers can ignore downstream impacts of their business practices. thedailybeast.com/how-gunmak…

Did guns leapfrog automobiles? They're both awful, but my understanding is car deaths were still no. 1.

I was just thinking about this. I have this lounger for my baby and I have a 15 yr old in a school that had to request extra on-site security from the local police because of a threat made by abother student.

The difference is the guns are designed to kill children (and anyone else in the crosshairs).

Over a 10 year period, < 10 people died and average of 675 people, 80% children , were seen in ER for LAWN Dart injuries per year. And yes they were banned on 12/19/88.
