Unregulated technology allows many, many ways for law enforcement *or* vigilantes to identify and hunt down women suspected of being pregnant. My new essay explains why avoiding this as an individual—by deleting apps or being careful—will not be feasible. nytimes.com/2022/05/19/opini…

It’s incredible what a valuable tool @twitter was in growing the neo-Nazi/white supremacy/alt-right movement. Just watching these jackholes fiending to get back on years later is proof that deplatforming works and that they’re unable to match Twitter’s reach years later.
Neo-Nazi livestreamer and J6 defendant Anthime Gionet (aka "Baked Alaska" aka "YOBA") is trying to evade his Twitter ban. He advertised the new account this evening on a different social media platform. Username: @/pawg_collector ID: 1528158974243127297

It’s also damning evidence that @twitter did absolutely nothing to stop the growth of this movement prior to about 2017.

Tell me again, how Elon Musk is for free speech, as he meets with an authoritarian leader known for crushing dissent and suppressing free speech.

We need a more sustainable way to do content moderation than to have excellent reporters do the hard work, then only have the platforms react when they’re called for comment.
NEW: I wrote about dangerous homemade baby formula recipes going viral online. They were on all the major tech platforms—Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, Twitter. TikTok and YouTube began to remove the videos after we got in touch. bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

I went on the record in two documentaries, and I was recently interviewed by the NYT about Amber Heard, and I said it was a coordinated disinformation campaign against her. And here it is... vice.com/en/article/3ab3yk/d…

Amazing, but not surprising, to see dudes with "libertarian" in their bio excitedly cheering on the idea that Elon might use the state to punish his critics.

Disinformation exists, and it exists mostly to shift the blame of infrastructural decay and resource limitations from the powerful to the powerless. You can call it "information warfare" or "information operations" if you want, but it is real. People are dead because of it.

Actually, maybe Twitter IS real life.
Tesla's board is between a rock and a hard place. The bleeding will likely continue if they keep Elon Musk on as CEO. However, if they remove him, it will spark a backlash with some of his vocal supporters. His erratic tweeting isn't helping the situation.
