Our infrastructure has fallen from the best in the world to 13th. But just as importantly, America ranks 35th out of 37 major economies when it comes to investing in early childhood education and care. We cannot be competitive in the 21st century if we continue to slide.

61 federal judges or their families traded stock in companies involved in lawsuits they were hearing .. while the case was still going on. It's hard to say "no one is above the law" when stuff like this is so common. wsj.com/articles/federal-jud…

Based on her lie, a group organized through social media. The killer was mainly influenced, it seems, by a woman who used the twitter handle “cicatrice sucrée”, or sweet scar. They were in touch with Russian speakers in Iraq. Anyway, wild. 3/

It’s a case study in “lone wolf” terrorism but also in influence and social media and mis/disinformation. The student who first claimed she was offended by the cartoons had been expelled from the school days before and in fact, the teacher never showed the cartoons. 2/

Unbelievable, yet so believable these days. Remember the French high school teacher who was decapitated after showing cartoons of Mohammed in his class? The killer was thought to be a “lone wolf.” French officials have now charged 15 people. 1/

After a bad mescaline trip, Jean-Paul Sartre started seeing three or four crabs around him all the time. He would talk to them in the morning (‘Good morning, my little ones, how did you sleep?’) and during the day (‘We’re going into class now, so we have to be still and quiet’).

Perfectionism is based on an obsessive belief that if you run carefully enough, hitting each stepping-stone just right, you won’t have to die. The truth is that you’ll die anyway & a lot of people who aren’t even looking at their feet are going to do better than you & have fun.

You know who has that research? Facebook. Millions and millions of data points. But instead of sharing it, they closed access to researchers, and, after the whistleblower report, spoke about their study of 16(!) teenage girls who had no ill effects. #gimmeAbreak

Many Ds did believe the 2000 election was stolen. However, they accepted the court’s decision. ‘Unhinged believes’ may as well be the critical difference here, or it may be one of differences—what’s clear is that violence wasn’t on the table then and it is now.
